Finding New Passions

What are your hobbies? What are you passionate about?
I use to dread being asked these questions. My fear of failure always held me back in exploring new hobbies and find new passions. But the funny thing is, I was always searching for my passions but I was to trapped in fear to try anything new.

Since a young age I’ve always been creative, arts and crafts were my thing. I was always creating with my hands. But then I started to feel insecure about my creativity, and thought that whatever I made wasn’t good enough so I stopped. During this time I wasn’t my happiest, authentic self. By moving to London I gave myself permission to explore new things, tap back into my creativity. I had an outlet again, a hobby. London is where I found my new passion for ceramics, I finally felt like me.

Hobbies and passions are one of the most important things in life. The best thing you could give yourself. You’re taking time out to do something you love. You’re living for yourself, healing, loving and being your own person. Even if it’s just as simple as going for a walk or reading a book. If that’s what you love doing, take time out for yourself and do it. Whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed or not yourself, you can use your hobbies and passions to tap back into yourself, the happy place from within. It’s an act of self care and self love.

When I moved back to Perth I didn’t want to stop exploring. I wanted to find some new hobbies, just give anything I had interest in a try. Even if I don’t end up liking it or doing it on a regular basis, at least I gave it ago and tried something new.

I’ll be starting a new series, where I share with you the new hobby I’m exploring. Fear will no longer stop me from exploring, I will no longer let it hold me back.

What are your hobbies? —I’d love to give something you love a go. Or is there anything you’ve been wanting to try but haven’t? What’s holding you back?
